Identify Your Autoresponder Strategy

As a reminder, there are three types of email marketing strategies:

1---Pure Profit

2---Authority Builder

3---Hybrid

Since each has a separate purpose and goal, each will require its own autoresponder strategy.

So let’s go over all three.

#1: The Pure Profit Sequence

This type of email campaign is designed to get people to buy, so the messages will be aggressive and more sales-oriented. All of them are designed to encourage subscribers to click a link and purchase an offer.

The core part of this strategy is to implement the Email Trilogy technique.

An email trilogy is a set of three messages that is designed to sell a single product. Each message builds on the content of the previous one. In a way, these emails tell a “mini-story” with the offer providing the resolution to the core problem.

Here’s how it works:

Email 1 – Provide 100% pure content in this first message. Detail a useful strategy that readers can immediately apply or tell a story related to a breakthrough you achieved in the past. The point of this email is to lay the foundation for the next message.

The best emails to use are Agitation, Maximum Value or Personality. All are designed to pique the curiosity of the reader about a niche-related problem.

This first email should end with an open loop, where you’ll mention a topic that’s covered in the next message. This “preview” is great for creating continuity in an email trilogy. It also provides an incentive for a subscriber to open the second email.

Email 2 – This message continues the conversation. It provides lots of content, answering the question from the first message, and then it creates another open loop.

Your goal is to deliver a few tips for overcoming a common problem in your niche—but you’ll also position the offer as an “advanced” solution. If readers like the content, they’ll be motivated to buy the product you’re promoting.

You can use a variety of messages here—Maximum Value, Sponsored, Product Freebie, Agitation and Personality all work well for getting people interested in an offer.

Email 3 – This email is a direct promotion of the product. It should be a link to the offer with an overview of its core benefits.

The best messages that work here are Long Sales and Ninja Sales. Both describe the benefit of the product and encourage subscribers to take immediate action.

Bonus – Sometimes you can add a fourth message to a trilogy (or quadrilogy?) The Special Discount works well when a specific aspect of the offer is about to expire. It could be a price change, limited time bonus or removal of the entire product. The important thing here is you’ll have a specific reason why readers should take action.

It’s easy to load up a Pure Profit campaign with a whole series of email trilogies.

You can run one set for seven days, wait a couple of days and then do another. Or you could “bridge” these sequences by offering a valuable, free piece of content with no strings attached.

#2: The Authority Builder Sequence
